The Road from New Mexico to national holiday

These leaders carried the day in New Mexico

State Representative Rick Miera (District 11, Bernalillo County) introduced House Bill 363 in the 2007 legislative session. State Senator Mary Jane M. Garcia (District 36, Dona Ana County) co-sponsored the same bill in the senate--Senate Bill 626. These bills established a New Mexico Youth Day holiday for the state. Lieutenant Governor Diane D. Denish signed House Bill 363 into law on April 4th, 2007, in Martinez Town, Albuquerque. Later Governor Bill Richardson signed the two bills as a whole.

Now we call on our leaders in Congress to step up

Now we're asking our senior US Senator, Jeff Bingaman, to introduce a similar bill that would establish a youth day holiday at the national level. It's time for change, and it would mean the world to us to see a day on the calendar like Father's Day and Mother's Day to recognize our youth for their achievements each year.
